Charlotte Nichols thinks romance is just a worthless fairy tale.
Jordan Lovett might be the city’s most eligible CEO but to Charlotte, he’s a route to revenge. His father stole her father’s company, and she won’t stop until the Lovett family is ruined. Jordan is just a spoiled playboy, and she’s happy to use him as her way in, even if that means pretending to be his date for the weekend.
Jordan Lovett knows that romance is just a path to heartbreak.
He’s had his share of gold diggers but when the latest one leaves him for his own father, he gives up on the fairer sex completely. Now he needs a woman on his arm to face his father’s engagement, and he’s not feeling choosy. His friend says he knows an escort to stand in as his public-facing girlfriend for the weekend and Jordan’s happy with that as a solution. When Charlotte walks into his life, he has no idea he’s just given the job to the wrong person.
Jordan traced a circle around the tattoo on her wrist. “What’s the R stand for?”
A trail of excitement followed the path of his finger. “Ruthless,” she whispered.
Jordan didn’t know that Charlotte wasn’t who she claimed to be. Charlotte didn’t know Jordan thought she was an escort. And neither of them knew that there was any risk of falling in love.
No cheating, no cliff-hangers! Just a little bit of steam and a whole lot of happily ever after.
” Being ruthless is a gift but what happens when you must start being one to move in your life? This debut book is going to keep you captive from the first page and never let you stop reading until you reach the end.”
When it comes out, I always declare my support to the debut authors on my reviews. The incredible passion they show, writing down all the images and feelings which unfolding like scenes in their mind; the remarkably unique personal writing style, each one of them have, which is always the most important detail; and so many more little ones that complete the whole profile of an author, create mixed feelings in me, like admiration, wonderment and pride to a person who took the chance and the risk, to present themselves in front of the reading audience. These are the reasons I will always support them!
I was provided with an advanced ARC copy by the author for exchange of my honest review.
Demi Damson starts her debut as an author with the most powerful words for a title, Ruthless Love. It feels like she took the bull from the horns and kept him down until she make him accept his defeat. However, not only the title hides power. From the first page, the reader is presented by a strong, independent woman who fights to have a bright future, no matter the obstacles, just like Demi. Although the storyline isn’t relevant with how an author’s life might be, the two women share a similarity, they both are determined to succeed.
Charlotte Nickols, is a young woman, on her late twenty’s, who is trying to establish her profession to the general public but mostly to the ones who will definitely need her services. Being a private investigator isn’t a job everyone will daily ask for to be served but Charlotte is determined to succeed and to create a well known name in her country. She comes from a doting, caring family who, despite her mother’s attempts to settle her down and marry her with someone, they always supported her and encouraged her to move forward. For all that and for the undying love Charlotte has for them, she decided to find out and solve a problem of her loved ones past, a shadow that kept them and her from moving forward with their lives for a long time. She was so determined to fix this problem that when the chance came she couldn’t understood how she managed to be involved to a situation as an escort in the arms of her enemy.
Jordan Lovett has everything a man at his age dreams to have. Money and power compined with his dominant appearance and beauty were the keys that made him catapults his father’s company, earning more money than ever before. A brutally hot bachelor any woman dreamed to have but still no woman managed to own. His life was almost perfect until his father decided to married again, a woman who had her claws around Jordan on the first place, but didn’t manage to make him marry her. For Jordan, Lauren is going to be a nightmare every time he’s going to visit them at his father’s mansion; that’s why this time he planned to have a female companion in his arms, bypassing her attention as much as he could but yearning for the attention of his companion.
Sometimes when you look at me, your gaze is intense. It’s like you look through me. You see who I am. ~ Jordan
At first glance, the story gives the feeling of a light storyline despite its powerful title. I wouldn’t be honest if I don’t say that I would love to see more drama take place into the story. However, the way Charlotte and Jordan first met, their secret agreement, how they started to open up and connect with each other despite their personal secrets, the time that the masks took off and everything revealed, all these moments had the right amount of inspiration to create a beautifully narrated story. Of course, I won’t spoil the storyline more than I already said! Yet, I can reveal that YES its going to be complicated and that YES you are going to have the happy ending, many of us always desire.
To summarize, I found Demi, as a debut author, incredible talented. Her writing style shows a skilled writer, who has the intelligence to illustrate a story, presenting both heroes personal sides, into the story, developing beautifully the basic theme of the storyline. Fast-paced and consuming, Ruthless Love is a novel that will keep reader’s interest until they reached the last page, promising them for more stories to come out by this talented author, Demi Damson. Well, I hope I intrigued your imagination and made you grab the book yourselves and find out what’s happening, because I won’t tell you myself.
Until next time, enjoy your free time reading great books with the most unforgettable stories.
