The Rules: An older-brother’s-best-friend romance. Book II in the Off-Limits series.
When you’re a guy, the rules are simple. Live by the Bro Code:
Rule #1: Always have his back.
Rule #2: Don’t ever leave him stranded.
Rule #3: And never, ever, touch his sister.
Aw hell, two out of three ain’t bad.

Ainsley Andrews has tried everything to get over her issues with intimacy. EVERYTHING. But nothing seems to work. Now, twenty-four years old, it seems the only man that can get her motor running is her brother’s best friend. A strictly off-limits guy that stole her breath when she was just sixteen.
Please be advised that the following story deals with themes of abuse and mental health which may be difficult for some readers.
Also: The following story contains mature humor, a lot of cursing, and of course, sexual situations. It is intended for adult readers who enjoy that kind of thing.

Author’s note: This book can be read as a standalone but you’ll miss a few inside jokes- read The Lessons first if you can.

#my Review

“Rules never seem to be so much fan and Liz has a unique way to tell of it.”

Second book of the Off-Limits series and the matchmaking still continues. The Rules have the same theme just like The Lessons, the first book of the series, yet the story itself is way different. Being virgin from the lack of time looks simple compared to not be capable of having sex at all. Moreover, if The Lessons made me laugh and light-hearted, The Rules was touching and gave me a true ache inside. You see, it’s beautiful when a story has real messages to share with the readers. It’s beautiful because, as much as I enjoy reading about sex, love and…hmm…rock ñ roll, I truly appreciate when human issues are unfolding in a story.

The Rules are Ainsley’s and Lambo’s personal story, who I met at The Lessons. Ainsley is Ryan’s sister, the only family he had after they parents died years ago. Same as Ryan, Ainsley had her own personal issues after the death of their parents but, truth to be told, hers were much more serious in every aspect than Ryan’s. See, Ainsley is bipolar which means she could change feelings in an unsuspecting time. Put into the mix the awful past she had at her younger years, Ainsley was a complicated, broken soul. Details aren’t meant to be told but Ainsley, twenty-four now, confronts an other one issue alongside with her other ones. A body part issue. Well, she-can’t-have-sex-with-a-guy issue. I mean, really really can’t! She can’t put-his-part-into-her-part kind of issue.

So, where Lambo, his-real-name-not-to-be-said, fits into the mix? Well, because when Lambo found out about Ainsley’s problem, he took it as his mission to help the girl solve her little issue and keep on with their lives. Because Lambo is a well known womanizer, with a chick list kept going for miles. Because his able to accomplish any challenges come on his way. Because, Lambo and Ainsley have a past together and it was time to put it behind them. And last, because Lambo is Lambo and Ainsley is the lucky one to had the chance to get to know him better.

“When you’re with the right person, the best thing is to be with that person. ” – Lambo

I met him as the best friend of Ryan’s and the captain of their football team. Thirty-one years old, coming from a wealthy family, who owns an empire of hotel brands, Lambo is a without limits workaholic guy. Taking serious any challenge came with his work and outside life, Lambo definitely doesn’t look like a guy who settles down and be a homeboy. Knowing well his effect when it comes to women, he never missed an one-night-stand invitation by them. However, he didn’t miss the effect Ainsley always had on him. After the small…hmm.. first interaction between them, he always was in tune when he was in the same room with her. Nevertheless, he felt that she didn’t was so into him as he was, like she hate him, like she didn’t remember the strong connection they had. Back to the present, when Lambo found out about Ainsley’s issue, he volunteered to help her out in an instant. Like come-on-and-let’s-start-right-now help her out volunteering. Truth to be told, the man is a magician in foreplay and a marathoner afterwards!!!! A true gift for woman’s kind…Which didn’t stay unnoticed by Ainsley and he became her new addiction.

“Ainsley. You’re good for my ego, sweetheart.” – Lambo

Creating a unusual relationship, Lambo and Ainsley had to put rules in it. The rules where simple tho. It’s only for the sex, not to attached with each other and it’s only for the sex. Simple. Right? Right!! As long as the acted like horny animals and have, hot, brutally hot sex and only sex, then, yeah, it looks to be simple. But, hey, things never seems to be simple when you have the same sex-partner each night and cuddle up with them, after the activities you both had tobether. It became complicated and as much as they wanted to keep it simple it was impossible. Putting into the mix, Ainsley’s bipolarity and her unexpected behaviors which lit up by some uncomfortable situations, the simplicity they both wanted to have wasn’t working. However, it took them on an upper level of intimacy, helping them to be strongly connected with each other. They were really a sight to see!!

I hope I haven’t revealed much of what is happening in the story. It would be awesome to find out by yourselves, how this delightfully swoony story unfolds, plus how Ryan’s and Natalie’s life together continues. I loved Ainsley’s character so much!! She was a tough yet sensitive woman, with a strong yet low self will, fighting her depression and anxiety with meds and enjoying the little happy moments she had in her life. Lambo was indescribable loving and sweet with her, patient yet cocky with her attitude, thoughtful and committed in what they had together. He was someone else when he was near Ainsley, that’s for sure! I couldn’t be fell for him and what he wanted to create with her in the future. They both deserved my devotion and support for their love.

Just like The Lessons, The Rules are created giving a light atmosphere, without rush or push, making my reading times enjoyable and cozy. Using, again, both heroes perspective it was easy to understand and being connected with both of them. They both were incredible creatures!! I was, again, fascinated of the writing style the author has, because she’s so up front, with an impressive knowledge on sex department and a clear view about every single detail her storyline needed to be beautiful illustrated. Keeping her writing style fluent and narrating a sensible issue with respect and delicate approach, The Rules has enough love to melt your heart and definitely captivating scenes to read. Would you enjoy reading it? Definitely!! Even from its cover you can understand how seductive and loving and loyal this couple would be. Hope I intrigued your imagination and made you grab the book yourselves and find out what’s happening.

Until next time, enjoy your free time reading great books with unforgettable stories.
